Dayton is no stranger to Pallotta. She was a key member of last season’s state Final Four team that played in the Division I state semifinals at Dayton in a loss to Mason.
Pallotta averaged about 14 points a game for the Polar Bears last season. She is the fourth sibling in her family to go to play college athletics. Pallotta picked Dayton over a scholarship offer from Ohio State in lacrosse.
“I want to thank all of the schools that showed interest in me and made my recruiting process worthwhile. Additionally, I want to acknowledge my incredible coaches, teammates, family, and friends who have helped me along the way and allowed me to be in this position. With that being said, I am ecstatic to share that I am committing to play basketball at the University of Dayton. I’d like to thank Coach Meek and rest of the coaching staff for making this possible. Cannot wait to get to work! Go Flyers!”
Jackson High School junior Leena Patibandla has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin (Class of 2023) to continue her academic and athletic careers. Patibandla, a three-sport standout at Jackson, will play women’s basketball for the Badgers.

Patibandla is a 6-foot-1 shooting guard for the Polar Bears. However, she has exhibited the athleticism to handle the ball and shoot from the outside. She was Stark County’s female athlete of the year last year after earning All-Stark County honors in basketball, volleyball and track and field. Patibandla helped to lead Jackson to the state Final Four this year, the longest state tournament run in Jackson history.
Mikesell is the second Stark County player in as many years and third overall to be drafted by a WNBA team. Former McKinley player Kierstan Bell was selected last year by the Las Vegas Aces, who went on to win the WNBA championship. Ameryst Alston, another former McKinley player, was drafted by the New York Liberty in 2016.

"I'm just blessed more than anything," Mikesell said in New York after she was drafted. "I'm just blessed to be here."
In addition to Mikesell, Indiana selected South Carolina's Allyah Boston with the No. 1 overall pick. Boston was one of three South Carolina players drafted in the first round.
Mikesell will also be joining an Indiana team that features former Ohio State player Kelsey Mitchell. The veteran point guard has spent her entire five-year career with the Fever.
